Alkaaby captures the beauty and sensuality of the female form reclining in a luxurious setting, however he does not confine her by the traditional Orientalist themes. She is free, which is a play on the original concept of the Turkish word "odaliq" meaning chambermaid or concubine. Alkaaaby's Odalisque is there because she wants her beauty captured by the artist, not out of obligation.
